Infectious Disease Epidemiology
Infectious disease dynamics operate at the interconnected boundary of human, animal, and environmental health. Championing a "Horses as Sentinels" philosophy, our work focuses on decoding complex transmission pathways, spillover risks, and surveillance frameworks for high-consequence pathogens — including novel Hendra virus variants, Australian Bat Lyssavirus, and Avian Influenza. By integrating custom SQL data pipelines with advanced spatial and temporal modelling, we help primary producers, agricultural departments, and international health agencies anticipate, detect, and mitigate emerging biosecurity threats
General Research Services
Bridging academic rigor with field reality, our research initiatives transform complex biological data into actionable biosecurity policy and clinical strategies. Co-hosted by leading research bodies including the University of Sydney and the CSIRO, our work spans multi-species pathogen discovery, longitudinal equine population health, and wild-animal reservoir dynamics. We collaborate with global research institutions and industry bodies to publish peer-reviewed studies that elevate disease surveillance standards and protect animal welfare.
Diagnostic Tests
Modern disease surveillance relies on rapid, highly sensitive, and adaptive diagnostic frameworks. Rapid local high quality blood testing with our local collaberation veterinary clinics (SHEC/SPVM&S/SHVC/UVTH) evaluating and deploying advanced diagnostic technologies — from pan-PCR surveillance panels and multi-pathogen multiplex serology (IgG/IgM) to cutting-edge metatranscriptomic sequencing. By optimising diagnostic test interpretation and integrating bio-banked sample matrices into scalable databases, we enable early pathogen detection, reduce false-negative risks in suspected cases, and improve overall diagnostic precision.
Pharmacology & Pharmacovigilance
Pharmacology
Evidence-based therapeutics require rigorous clinical evaluation to ensure both efficacy and animal safety. We conduct systematic reviews, field evaluations, and statistical modelling to assess drug performance, treatment protocols, and physiological impacts across equine populations — such as evaluating performance metrics associated with preventative vaccine administration.
Pharmacovigilance
Protecting horse welfare and industry trade relies on robust, transparent adverse-event monitoring systems. Drawing on extensive expert-witness representation and comparative reviews of national and international reporting frameworks, we advise industry bodies, legal entities, and regulatory authorities on vaccine safety, post-market surveillance, and risk-management compliance.
Effective biosecurity solutions require more than laboratory data — they depend on human decisions, policy adoption, and community engagement. Incorporating ethnographic methodologies, community juries, and multi-stakeholder consensus models, we explore the social, economic, and ethical dimensions of disease control. From evaluating public health perspectives on zoonotic spillover risks to guiding remote community education initiatives, our social science frameworks ensure that health policies are practical, culturally aligned, and widely supported
